Joomla! Day UK 2009

The second UK Joomla! Day is set to take place over Friday, 13th and Saturday, 14th March 2009, at the Oakwood House Conference Centre, Maidstone, Kent. This is a community event and accordingly is not split into separate business and community days. We will however be running multiple tracks of presentations during the two days. These will appeal to all levels of Joomla! user from all business sectors. You choose which presentations you wish to attend.

Joomla!Day Las Vegas 2009

The Joomla Project will be landing in the southwest U.S. for Joomla Day Las Vegas on April 3-5, 2009. Taking place at the Montelago Village Resort, the theme of the event is "See Joomla's Future." With the rapid development of Joomla 1.6, all developers, designers, integrators, and site administrators will want to get first hand knowledge of how to take advantage of new features and keep their work cutting-edge. Speakers will include Development Coordinators Andrew Eddie, Anthony Ferrara, Louis Landry, and Wilco Jansen.

Joomla! Day in Pune is happening on the 25th of April, 2009. Pune is at the height of all things technology in India. Usage of the Joomla framework is picking up at amazing rate! We thought it was just the right time to organize a Joomla Day, at a moment when Open source is undergoing a revolution all over the world!

FOSDEM 2009

This February, the Open Source world will once again meet in the nice city of Brussels, Belgium. In the past 7 years many people have met, at the free and open conference to talk about the developments in this area of software development. At the first big Open Source conference in 2009, the Joomla project will present the latest developments and information about the project. Together, with a really high profile list of other open source projects, we have a booth in the exhibition area. On Saturday and Sunday, a team from the European Community will be at the booth to answer your questions.

Thailand Internet Expo 2009 BannerThailand Internet Expo 2009, which will be held from Friday, January, 30th 2009 until Sunday, February 1st 2009 at the Royal Siam Paragon rooms 1 - 3, on Floor 5, in the Siam Paragon Shopping Center. Our  theme is,“ Thailand's 1st Ultimate Internet & Technology Market Place”. The location will serve as a venue for major internet providers in Thailand to present almost 100 showcases"

Melbourne JoomlaDay 2009

On February 7 & 8, 2009, is a weekend packed with presentations and workshops, embracing and catering for the entire Joomla community—from beginners to developers.

The program on Saturday (7 Feb) comprises a progression of Joomla related topics. We begin with essential background information, setting up a Joomla site, moving through design, extensions, security and improvements, before unleashing Joomla's largely unknown features that make a developer's life much easier. And there won't be a JoomlaDay in Melbourne without a major release just out or imminent: Get to know Joomla 1.6 with all its exciting new features and the long awaited extended access control level.

Joomla Day Izmir Turkey

The first Joomla Day in 2009 is announced in Izmir, Turkey. The Turkish Joomla Community is looking forward to their third Joomla Day after successful events in Istanbul and Ankara. The event will be held on Saturday, Jan 10, 2009, from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM at the Balçova Municipal Council Hall in İzmir.

Joomla Day Sweden will be held from 9am until 4pm at the Hakon & Hotell Konferens in Västerås.

Highlights from the program:

  • Alex Kempkens from Think Network GmbH, Germany and a Joomla! Core member, will give a lecture about the Joomla project and he will also hold a session about the popular multi-language extension Joomfish! and give us an insight into its latest version.
  • Lorenzo Garica, Editor for Joomla! Extensions directory is going to talk about how the website with more than 3,900 extensions and more than 75,000 daily visitors is managed.
  • Martin Blodau from Pixpro is going to present their favourite extensions for Joomla.  Among other extensions,  Pixpro developed PixSearch which is currently the 5th highest rated extension with more than 15,000 downloads.
  • Niclas Stridell from Indell Infomedia will tell us how to get traffic for retail websites.
  • Chris Torneheim and Tommy Jonsson from 1st solutions will give an overview of Joomla! for those who are curious about the CMS and even talk about how you can work with E-commerce in Joomla.
  • Thomas Andeberg will tell us how he developed Rosvalla.se, their experiences, which 3rd party extensions they use and why they selected them. Thomas will also give their thoughts about the coming emigration to Joomla 1.5.x.
  • Henrik Hussfelt will show how you build your own Joomla! extensions. How an extension is constructed and the difference between components, modules and plugins and how you can change existing extensions.
