Cartons Made From E-Paper Could Tell Us When Milk Goes Bad [Sensors]
Thursday, 12 May 2011 10:40
Rotten milk must be the most disappointing thing in the world; unless you have another carton lurking in the back of your fridge. Small sensors could change your morning disappointment in the future, with information about the milk's quality. More »

The Touchscreen With No Screen [Sensors]
Thursday, 12 May 2011 09:38
Can you touch what's not there? That's what some students have explored in this ZeroTouch project, which has dozens of infrared sensors and LEDs around what appears to be an empty photo-frame. Connected to a computer, it translates the gestures. More »

Robotic Lego Arm Stress-Tests the Kno Tablet Over and Over Again [Video]
Monday, 31 January 2011 05:40
That overpriced, oversized Kno tablet? A video look-behind-the-scenes has revealed some high-tech testing equipment—namely, a Lego robotic-arm used to test the touchscreens and ambient light sensors. Wicked sideburns on the Lego robot's human-overlord too, I might add. [YouTube] More »

Robotic Trousers For Paralyzed Patients Will Go On Sale Next Month [Video]
Monday, 06 December 2010 05:20
Paralyzed from a car crash, Israeli Amit Goffer created robotic trousers just like Wallace & Gromit's—only not controlled by an evil penguin. The ReWalk trousers use sensors and motors to aid users' rehabilitation, teaching them to walk again. More »

Hardware Monitor 4.92
Thursday, 09 September 2010 07:00
About Hardware Monitor
An application to read out all accessible hardware sensors in Macintosh computers. Currently more than 100 different Macintosh hardware sensors and more than 200 hard drive temperature sensors are supported. The program can visualize the history graphs of the readings, display measured values in a large variety of fashions, or announce readings by speech output. It can also store and export readings. Depending on what sensors are built into your Macintosh system, the following data can be accessed:

- Temperarature readings at different locations
- Battery data of portable computers
- Voltage sensors
- Current (amperage) sensors
- Fan speed sensors
- Sensors for pulse-width controlled fans
- Power and load sensors
- Ambient light sensors
- User-defined artificial sensors to monitor the operating system
